New Year's Ceildh 2024

 

Our New Year's Eve ceilidh is fast approaching, and tickets are going well - there's no better way to welcome in the New Year than having a leap around to a fun and lively ceilidh!

If you're intending coming and haven't bought your tickets yet it's best you get your skates on.

Due to the size of the venue, ticket numbers are limited, and when they're gone they really are gone!

You bring the food, we provide the cutlery & crockery.

Please don't bring your own drinks, there's a decent bar - and we really like to support the Morley Green Club.

Come to the Hallowe'en ceilidh, 26th October

Hallowe'en is on the horizon - which can only mean one thing: the hopgoblin hallowe'en ceilidh at new mills town hall!

this year's theme will be piratical  - so raid your wardrobes and see what you can come up with. 

there will be a piratical prize for the best fancy dress!

Last night's fun

A couple of HopGoblin members, very ably assisted by Rachel on whistles, Howard on percussion, and Ursula on Anglo concertina, played an early evening ceilidh for some youngsters in Moss Side, Manchester. 

 
We thought that Rob, as caller, would have his work cut out - many of our audience didn't have English as a first language. 

 
We needn't have worried, Rob, as ever the pro-caller, did a fine job - no doubt made easier by the enthusiasm of the dancers.

 
What a lovely, friendly audience we had - they had fun, we had fun: win-win!

Come to the Ceilidh, Mobberley, 9th Dec 2023

This is going to be a good 'un!

It's been a while since we last played a ceilidh at the Mobberley Victory Hall so we were more than a bit delighted to be invited to play a fundraising ceilidh for Mobberley Pre-School.

The big guns are out for this one: HopGoblin Big Band (HopGoblin + Olde Vic), with Baz Parkes calling.

This might mean that Rob, who normally calls for us, would be out of a job - but no, he's going to be joining us on stage, playing one of his very many melodeons! (A chap can never have enough melodeons, it's the law y'know).
